Tomato – Pomodorino Inverno ‘Torre Suda’

$5.00

A winter storage tomato from the Puglia region of southern Italy

Min. 30 seeds

Description

A small, blocky red storage tomato from Puglia.
Originally from the town of Torre Suda on the heel of Italy, these tomatoes are picked late in the season, and hung on cotton threads for use through winter months. Traditionally grown on low nutrient sandy soils with no irrigation, these are the ultimate survival tomato. Relatively short, semi-determinate plants producing short trusses of red tomatoes. And they taste great too, with a rich tomato flavour, not much sweetness, developing a complex, deeper flavour as they age. (We suspect this might be Pummidori te ‘mpisa).
